Day at the beach...

A few weekends ago, we had a three day weekend with President's Day falling on a Monday, so we headed over to the Island to spend some time at the beach.  It's about an hour and half drive for us, so that's not too bad.  We joked when we drove over the bridge to the island that it was "the calm before the storm"....all the Spring Breakers will be making their way down here this week.  ;-)

The weather was a cool and breezy 65 degrees and oh man, it was perfect.  I think we had the windows rolled down in our truck the entire time as we drove around the island.  Noah loves when we let him keep his window down in the back seat when we're driving around.

For breakfast, as always, we dined at our favorite breakfast joint....The Grapevine Cafe.  Jody and Noah love their pancakes and I {heart} their migas....yum-eee!!  While we waited for our food, little man worked on writing his letters and drew me pretty pictures.  He also made his way around and talked to all the winter texans in the restaurant.  He loves to talk to old people and they always seem to get a kick out of it.  :-)

We usually rent a condo, but since we were only there for one night, we tried out a hotel we haven't stayed at before, the Pearl.  We really enjoyed it....especially the pool area.

It was still a bit too chilly for swimsuits, so we just headed to the beach fully clothed (plus...I'm in no rush to pour this sad body of mine into a swimsuit...yikes!!)

Of course, it took only a few minutes before little man was in the water and wet from the waist down.  ;-)  He had a blast splashing in the water and running from the waves.

We found all sorts of beautiful seashells...Noah's grandmother KiKi would have enjoyed this part.  She and Noah love to search for seashells together while at the beach.

Before heading out, we had fun hanging out on the balcony.  Noah was cracking us up while he posed and wore Daddy's sunglasses.  Such a character, I tell ya---there's never a dull day with our son.  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  :-)
